A West Shore man struck a deal Tuesday to plead guilty to molesting an 11-year-old girl in return for a 5- to 10-year prison sentence.
Cumberland County Judge Christylee Peck accepted that deal as Travis Reale, 24, entered his pleas to felony charges of indecent assault and corruption of minors.
Reale could have faced an even harsher prison term had he been convicted at trial on more dire child-sex charges, including rape of a child and aggravated indecent assault, that were filed against him by police in East Pennsboro and Hampden townships.
East Pennsboro Township police arrested Reale in August 2019. They said they learned of the molestation while handling a missing person case involving the pre-teen girl. Hampden Township police charged Reale with child-sex crimes last year for offenses against another child they said occurred in 2015.
Peck also ordered that Reale be evaluated to determine whether he should be deemed a sexually violent predator, the most dangerous type of sex offender. She scheduled his sentencing for April.
