The Animal Rescue League of Iowa is caring for a cat that was found in a box without ventilation.
The ARL posted on Facebook that at about 5 p.m. Thursday, a cardboard box taped shut was found at the front door of their office.
"Thankfully, an adopter heard the cat crying on their way in and we rushed to bring the cat inside, where our medical team discovered the box did not have any holes for ventilation so he was likely discovered just in time," the post stated. "He also had a minor and likely recent wound on his head."
"Remember, the ARL will always be here for animals in need of a new home for any reason, but the outcome could have been deadly for this cat had he not been discovered in time," the post read.
The ARL said the cat already has a family in line ready to adopt him.
