A 3-year-old boy was found stabbed to death inside a home in Inkster Wednesday, police say. The mother, who was reported missing when the child was found, has since been taken into police custody.

She was taken into custody by the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Task Force, a group of departments that work together to locate fugitives.

Police did not say if the weapon was found at this time.

Earlier report
Police said the mother may have mental issues. She is believed to have left the scene in an Uber, according to officials.

Officials were not able to say when the crime happened or how long the child has been in the home.

Back in the day, Inkster (unfortunate name) was actually the city where the black people who worked at the Rouge Plant lived because they were not welcome in the nearby suburb of "Dearborn" for the "dearly born", which was basically run by the Ford family.

Dearborn has always been very white - but is now very brown, and Inkster is now mostly trailer trash.

The more you know...

The mother of a 3-year-old Inkster boy who was found fatally stabbed Wednesday has been charged in his death, authorities say.

Wayne County Prosectutor Kym Worthy charged Atiya Nina Muhammed, 26, with first degree premeditated murder, felony murder, child abuse, and torture.

Muhammed will be arraigned by video on Sunday, Mother's Day.

Muhammed is being charged after police say she killed her son, Zion Reid, Wednesday afternoon. Police responded to a call after relatives said they were trying to check on the mother and child.

Police found Reid's deceased body in a back bedroom. It was determined by the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office that Reid suffered multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma injuries.

Muhammed was not at home when police arrived at the scene, but was located later the same day.
