"The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search for a missing 4-year-old.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says they will be searching by air and on foot Thursday for Evelyn Vadie Sides. Wednesday night search teams used infrared to search for Sides but were not successful.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency issued a Missing Child Alert for Sides Wednesday night. Sides was last seen walking her dog around 2:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Lee Road 66. She was described as wearing a short sleeve floral dress."

Evelyn was under supervision and walking her dog when she “essentially just disappeared.” He said few details can be released at this time, but said Evelyn was at a location with which she was familiar though it was not near her home.
At this point foul play is not suspected in Evelyn’s disappearance. The girl’s dog has not yet been found either.

According to Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones, Evelyn “Vadie” Sides was with a caregiver described as a “longtime friend of the family” when she disappeared from the 5000 block of Lee Road 66 in Loachapoka, at around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday.

UPDATE: Vadie Sides was found alive late Friday afternoon, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Both she and the dog are OK.

"The dog was with her protecting her the whole time,'' said Lee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Drew Peacock. The dog, however, ran away again amid all the excitement. They expect the dog will return home.

Searchers on Friday found a 4-year-old girl who had been missing for two days in a wooded area in east Alabama.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said searchers found Vadie Sides after two days of searching in some woods in that eastern Alabama county.

Authorities said the child had disappeared from her babysitter's sight Wednesday afternoon while they were walking in a backyard with a hound dog.

Jones said the girl is in good condition despite her ordeal. The hound dog was at her side when she was found.

“We are beyond happy," Jones wrote in a text message about the discovery of the girl.

Multiple agencies and hundreds of volunteers had searched remote woods with a creek running through it.

A member of the search team that found the girl told media outlet WRBL-TV that they were searching the woods when they heard a dog bark, and then the girl “popped her head up” and they saw her bright red hair.

He said the girl drank some Gatorade offered to her and was talking “like it was no big deal” what she had been through. The station reported that the dog initially ran away when rescuers approach, but later came home on its own.

So the dog in the earlier picture is not the dog that was with her? Article says hound dog.

Dont know why folks are praising the dog, it no doubt caused the mess. It prob took off after something and she chased the dog and got lost. Dipshit idiot kid. Family should be on the financial hook for the resources wasted due to their childs poor choices and undisciplined behavior.
