A hearse carrying a dead woman was stolen from outside a California church Wednesday night, authorities said.

The vehicle, a black Lincoln Navigator, was parked outside Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Pasadena at about 8 p.m. when it was taken, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

The driver of the hearse was believed to have stepped away momentarily to unload another casket at the time of the theft, the department spokesman said.

The sheriff’s department pleaded on Twitter for those responsible to “at least” return the casket.

“Out of all the bad decisions you have made, at least make one good one & bring back the deceased person & casket inside the Navigator,” they wrote.

(LOS ANGELES) — A stolen hearse with a casket and body inside has been recovered following a police chase on a Los Angeles freeway Thursday morning.

The body was found in a casket inside the vehicle and one person was in custody, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said on Twitter. No other information was immediately available.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Benjamin Grubb told KTLA-TV that a member of the public reported seeing the SUV. The Los Angeles Police Department pursued the vehicle, which ultimately crashed on the freeway. Video footage from news helicopters showed that it has heavy front-end damage.

Grubb said while the body did not appear to have been disturbed, it was unfortunate that the family of the dead person “has to be put through further trauma.”

In their defense, they probably didn't realize it was a hearse. A Lincoln Navigator is a high-end vehicle, and if they had left it running, the thief would have been drooling.

But what is this?
The driver of the hearse was believed to have stepped away momentarily to unload another casket

A second vehicle, or a two-for-one in the Nav?
