Deputies have arrested a woman who confessed to giving her 18-month-old methadone and other drugs for months leading up to the child's death.

According to the sheriff's office, 42-year-old Heather Hidalgo was arrested on one count of first-degree murder in the child's death.

Deputies said they first arrived at Hidalgo's home on Feb. 15 to check on an unresponsive child. There, they found the toddler unconscious. She was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives were contacted March 7 after toxicology results revealed the baby tested positive for Lorazepam, Clonazepam, Alprazolam and Methadone. The tests also indicated the Alprazolam and Methadone levels detected in the victim's blood were well in excess of the "fatal range for an adult."

Household members told investigators the child was born with an addiction to Methadone due to her mother being treated at a Methadone clinic throughout her pregnancy.

I’m not sure why God gave me 18 months with Isabelle but it was the best 18 months of my life next to the first four best years and if you know me you’ll understand that. she was the happiest baby she always smiled just like her sister she always laughed at everything. everything was funny especially at 4 o’clock in the morning when all I wanted or didn’t do was go to sleep lol. she’s had a connection with their sister that I just never imagined would happen and like I said I’m not sure why good God took her but I have faith in him I’m just kind of upset with him now but anybody who even gives a dollar or even just gives us all your prayers it all means the same and lot to me and my family and we thank you for everything and appreciate everything even more.

You know it kind of makes me wonder (because I’ve experienced this in my job at a school) if “mom” was using daughter’s pee at the methadone clinic to continue getting methadone while only having specific substances “allowed” in her urine screens. Methadone must be metabolized to show positive on a drug screen (can’t just add a small amount to a urine sample) and I’ve seen this happen with a 7 year old and his father. Gave the boy small amounts and used his urine at the methadone clinic so he could continue smoking the other meth. Dad died of an overdose and we had to keep an eye on the boy for any signs of withdrawals.

Just throwing that possibility out there. I mean...who wastes drugs on a toddler? Born to methadone is one thing (bad enough) but an 18 month old?

Wow, that makes perfect sense. I was wondering why/how so many different drugs, couldn't figure it.

I revise my initial assessment: evil, conniving, soulless fucking junkie bitch.
 
Beautiful Disaster , I just had no idea why someone would give these drugs to a wee baby? That was way beyond my understanding! But hearing your explanation it makes sense? In a very questionable way to me? If she didn’t give them to her for those purposes and she got it without the mums knowledge, then , she was horribly negligent! Why o why would you store dangerous drugs where your innocent wee baby could get them?
