Sentenced: Man Uses Ax To Save Girlfriend From 17YO Intruder

A Florida man is being credited with saving his girlfriend's life after he fought off a violent home invader with an ax.

Christina Robles answered a knock on her door where she found 17-year-old Matthew Cleveland who was asking for directions to a park, WFLA reports. Robles told the boy she didn't know where it was, which is when Cleveland allegedly forced his way into her home.

According to reports, Cleveland grabbed Robles by the throat and slammed her head against a wall. Alexander McMaster, Robles' boyfriend, was sleeping upstairs when he woke up to the sound of her screaming.

When McMaster got downstairs, he grabbed an ax near the door to fight Cleveland off, help his girlfriend, and prevent the home invader from getting away.

McMaster told WFTS he was able to hold Cleveland down and told him to listen to his commands or he'd go after him.

The 17-year-old, who is a high school senior, left class and walked to Robles' neighborhood where he was seen wandering until he knocked on her door.

Cleveland is being charged with home invasion robbery, felony battery by strangulation and two counts of simple battery, according to WFTS.
