As a life long "purist snob" when it comes to covers, when I first heard this, I got cold chills from head to toe, esp. when it picks up at the 01:46 mark then opens up into the powerful orchestral rock anthem riffs and David Draiman's pitch fucking PERFECT screamo-esque voice at about the 02:55 mark on through until he busts completely out and lets go. His perfectly metered baritone vibrato in the last sentence of the stanza is Dead. On. Beautiful, too.

Watching the video just makes this incredible piece all the sweeter as he looks directly into the camera and gives great face. :D As a multi-music connoisseur, I just can't say enough about this one. No one can ever replace Simon & Garfunkel's timeless version, but unlike SO many other covers/cover bands, this is no simple, rewarmed, rehashed, "I did it my way" thievin' bullshit knock off. This is simply a fantastic rock tribute to a fantastic folk song. If you have a spare 04:10, check it out.

Oh, and the fact he's a dead sexy, 42 y.o. Pisces destined to be my next husband really has nothing to do with it.

*whispers to self* Gawd DAWGS he'd look :hungry: in quarter leathers, leather cuffs, a choke chain and a open front leather duster chained to my four poster... :hilarious:

A flashback to the 80s for my sisters (and occas. bros) who've ever been in a relationship with a very 'controlling' person who wants to keep their bullying a secret. The video includes some dialogue worth hearing... <3

Voices Carry ~ Til Tuesday

In the dark, I like to read his mind
But I'm frightened of the things I might find
Oh, there must be something he's thinking of
To tear him away-ay-ay
When I tell him that I'm falling in love
Why does he say-ay-ay

Hush, hush
Keep it down now
Voices carry

Hush, hush
Keep it down now
Voices carry
Uh-uh

I tried so hard not to get upset
Because I know all the trouble I'll get
Oh, he tells me tears are something to hide
And something to fear
And I try so hard to keep it inside
So no one can hear

Hush, hush
Keep it down now
Voices carry

Hush, hush
Keep it down now
Voices carry

Hush, hush
Keep it down now
Voices carry
Uh-uh

Oh, he wants me
But only part of the time
He wants me
If he can keep me in line

Hush, hush
Keep it down now
Voices carry

Hush, hush
Keep it down now
Voices carry

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Hush, hush
So shut up now
Voices carry

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Hush, hush
Keep it down now
Voices carry

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh, hush, hush, darling
She might overhear
Hush, hush
Voices carry

He said, "Shut up"
He said, "Shut up"
Oh, God, can't you keep it down?
Voices carry

Hush, hush
Voices carry
I wish he would let me talk

This one's on my homemade CD mix collection of fun songs to crank up and clean house to. You haven't lived until you've performed it and sung the lyrics into a can of Pledge. :joyful:
Lyrics on screen.

I just had to listen to Sistah Aretha preach again while I was catching up on our personal D'D playlist.

"I'm about to give you all of my money
And all I'm askin' in return, honey

Is to give me my profits
When you get home (just a, just a, just a, just a)

Ooh, your kisses (ooh)
Sweeter than honey (ooh)
And guess what (ooh)

So is my money (ooh)"

Best. Shit. Evah! *POW! power fist to my bread-earnin' sisters!* :joyful:

If you haven't seen this video with George Wendt, Tess Haper and little Macauley Caulkin you've got to watch the first part whether you're an M.J. fan or not. As music lovers, you'll see why. :D Love this song, miss this guy. A lot.

Black or White ~ Michael Jackson

I took my baby on a Saturday bang
Boy is that girl with you
Yes we're one and the same

Now I believe in miracles
And a miracle has happened tonight

But, if you're thinkin' about my baby
It don't matter if you're black or white

They print my message in the Saturday Sun
I had to tell them I ain't second to none

And I told about equality and it's true
Either you're wrong or you're right

But, if you're thinkin' about my baby
It don't matter if you're black or white

I am tired of this devil
I am tired of this stuff
I am tired of this business
Sew when the going gets rough
I ain't scared of your brother
I ain'ts scared of no sheets
I ain't scared of nobody
Girl when the goin' gets mean

Protection
For gangs, clubs, and nations
Causing grief in human relations
It's a turf war on a global scale
I'd rather hear both sides of the tale
See, it's not about races
Just places
Faces
Where your blood comes from
Is where your space is
I've seen the bright get duller
I'm not going to spend my life being a color

Don't tell me you agree with me
When I saw you kicking dirt in my eye

But, if you're thinkin' about my baby
It don't matter if you're black or white

I said if you're thinkin' of being my baby
It don't matter if you're black or white

I said if you're thinkin' of being my brother
It don't matter if you're black or white

Ooh, ooh
Yea, yea, yea now
Ooh, ooh
Yea, yea, yea now

It's black, it's white
It's tough for them to get by

Such a creative, brilliant musical engineer.
Stop pressurin' me...

Scream ~ Michael Jackson Feat. Janet Jackson

Tired of injustice
Tired of the schemes
Your lies are disgusting
What does it mean
Kicking me down
I gotta get up
As jacked as it sounds
The whole system sucks

Peek in the shadow
Come into the light
You tell me I'm wrong
then you better prove you're right
You're sellin' out souls but
I care about mine
I've got to get stronger
And I won't give up the fight

With such confusion don't it make you wanna scream
You're bash abusing victimize within the scheme

You try to cope with every lie they scrutinize

Somebody please have mercy 'cause I just can't take it

Stop pressurin' me
Just stop pressurin' me
Stop pressurin' me
Make me wanna scream

Tired of tellin' the story your way
You're causin' confusion
You think it's okay

You keep changin' the rules
While you keep plain' the game
I can't take it much longer
I think I might go insane

with such confusion
Don't it make you wanna scream
Your bach abusin' victimize within the scheme

You find your pleasure scandalizin' every lie

Oh father, please have mercy
'Cause I just can't take it

Stop pressurin' me
Just stop pressurin' me
Stop pressurin' me
Make me wanna scream

Break down:
Oh my God, can't believe what I saw on the TV this evening
I was disgusted by all the injustice
All the injustice

With such delusions don't it make you wanna scream
You're bash abusin' victimize within the scheme

You try to cope with every lie they scrutinize

Oh brother please have mercy 'cause I just can't take it

Stop pressurin' me
Just stop pressurin' me
Stop pressurin' me
Make me wanna scream

It's tough to come up with a favorite, as I'm constantly listening to different stuff.
So far, this one is my favorite for today though. Played at 1.5x :p

Because everyone should hear this once...lol

And because I really love Alexi's take on it...

Brazil ... I saw this band a few times
No drum machine this guy blasts.. he is a machine

Cuz everybody needs a little vintage awesome now and then. And Stephen's voice is pretty great on lead melody in this one.

Dedicated to Glenn Frey. Fly free my Scorpion friend from afar.
What you started will live forever. <3

When it comes to acapella and pure, blended, harmonic vocal perfection in rock music, you just can't beat Don, Glenn, Joe, Randy, Tim and Don (Felder).

Omgsh!! "Konstantine"! My daughter was playing this one while I was visiting and I fell in love with it, but couldn't remember the name or the band, lol. Thank yeeeeeeew. Vanessa Carlson's way back in the early pages, and I think Carly is, too, but I don't think it would have come up on a search anyway. Another one I can listen to in a loop (A Thousand Miles). Great list! :) I've got some more catching up to do from pgs. 22-23. Yay. *S*
