A pregnant bride died from a stroke minutes before arriving at the altar, leaving her groom a single father when doctors managed to save their baby's life.

Jessica Guedes, 30, a nurse, was six months pregnant and apparently healthy when she fell ill in the limo on the way to the church last Sunday in São Paulo.

At first her family thought she was suffering from anxiety due to wedding nerves after she complained of feeling dizzy with pains in her neck.

Because of this, the entourage was running late and they were unaware the victim was suffering from the pre-eclampsia which would shortly rob her of her young life and motherhood.

The bride was declared brain dead by doctors shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Pre-eclampsia is a condition which can go unnoticed in pregnant women or those who have just given birth.

My next door neighbors just tied the knot. My son and daughter-in-law went to the reception. The photos they sent me were spectacular. It looked like they had spent a fortune! A couple of days later, however, the bride told us the marriage ceremony took place at home and that they had rented her dress and all the decorations, etc. from the venue where they held the reception. It included security and valet parking. No stress and extremely classy looking. That's the way to do it!

My oldest niece was just around 30 with her first pregnancy, and her USAF husband was home when she was at 8 months and she went to take a bath... he kept hearing the water running, called to her, got no response and found her unconscious in the tub and called 911.
She'd had an aneurysm rupture in her brain, and was sitting up and laughing the next am after brain surgery, thankfully, but had to stay in bed for the last month and the Dr's wrestled about whether to let her have natural birth or a c-section (ended w/natural) and she and baby are fabulous - but we had nearly 20+ hours of terror running throughout the extended families with genuine for fear of both mama and baby's lives.

My son is getting married tomorrow. Thank goodness he'll finally be moving out.

I sold an item to a friend a couple of years ago and told him to pay me when he got the money, as I wasn't in need of the funds right then. About a month later he called me in tears and told me that he couldn't pay because his daughter had just died, seven months pregnant. She had pre-eclampsia and was feeling fine. A couple hours later she and the baby were dead. She left behind a 2 year old, husband and a grieving father. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

I do kind of wonder if she resisted getting medical treatment until it was too late because she didn't want to miss the wedding. Generally doctors keep a pretty tight leash on you if you have pre-eclampsia. :/

If she had high blood pressure at the office visit they’d suggest modified bed rest and more frequent monitoring. Beyond that there’s not much they can do to cure it but deliver you. Pre E can sneak up pretty fast. It could have been fine at her last appointment and then bam! Stroke.

I had pre-eclampsia with my second daughter.. I bloated like the damn blueberry girl on Willy Wonka. It's a shit condition and I was put on bed rest and told not to move unless I have to pee ... It's def not anything you'd want to travel with.... Idk how she didn't figure out something was wrong.... You can feel a huge difference in the way you feel. My blood was sky rocketed . Def feel bad for her .

They had me strapped for the most part with it.... I had a shit ton of time I had to sit in the office hooked up to monitoring. That was about 3 times a week... The rest of my time was spent in bed.. my Dr said there was nothing else to do... And to stay relaxed to keep my blood pressure as low as I possibly could .. which .... Let me tell you... Sitting in the office for four hours a day hooked up to shit three times a week didn't seem to help tremendously lol. But... At least he was doing his job.

It might have. Family said she was really stressed out with the wedding prep.
They assumed her symptoms were stress. I will bet the neck pain was from the blood clot lodging in the carotid artery, and that would make her dizzy as well. Friends and family would assure her, and fully believe, it was just nerves. Then the clot dislodged and went straight to her brain. I wonder how long she sat for photographers?

That’s what happened to me. Went straight from my regular 36 week check up to the ER. Put me on meds for a couple days to bring it down. At one point after taking my BP, the nurse kicked out my visitors, closed the drapes, turned off the TV, took the phone out of the room and made me lie on my left side with the lights off. Apparently I came close to a stroke that day. As soon as my BP was more manageable, they induced me. My son was only 5 lbs 4 oz but otherwise healthy.

Some of my aunts in the 70s had full term stillborns that doctors later attributed to pre eclampsia. I’m very grateful my outcome was different.

I forgot about having to lay on the left side!! I always wondered why the trick worked lol... They'd do it for about 30 mins at a time and it did help a bit... You and your baby def got lucky! I have to have c-sections.... Which... Kinda sucks bc I had so many issues during and after surgery .... But... God bless tubles lol .
