He told police he did not expect the reaction his walk generated.

"This is Missouri, I understand if we were somewhere else like New York or California, people would freak out," he said, according to police filings.

Dumbass. Does he think that people in Missouri don't read the news or watch TV? Or that nobody shoots up Wal-Marts in small towns? I think he's just an idiot that needs to be in jail cause he is just too idiotic to walk among normal people,

Wow. I can't imagine even without the recent Walmart/shooting news that this would be OK.

My bf bought a shotgun from Walmart, and they walked him all the way through the store and gave it to him outside. I assume to prevent having someone walking around with a gun, even though this was in a country Walmart in a hunting area.

Police in Springfield, Missouri, arrested a man on Thursday afternoon after he walked into a Walmart, armed with a rifle and wearing body armor.

The man, identified as 20-year-old Dmitriy Andreychenko, was arrested for making a terrorist threat, Springfield Police confirmed Friday.

Andreychenko was stopped at the scene by an armed off-duty firefighter until officers arrived and took the man into custody, the Springfield Police Department said.

A video taken by a witness outside the store shows the suspect with his arms up in the air and what looks like an assault rifle slung around his neck as he’s being arrested.

It’s unclear what the Andreychenko's motive was, but police told ABC Springfield affiliate KSPR that the man was recording himself with his cellphone while walking through the store.

Andreychenko had about 100 rounds of ammunition on him when he entered the store, police told the station.

"All we know is the fact that he walked in here heavily armed, with body armor on, and military fatigues on, and caused a great amount of panic inside the store," Springfield Police Department Lt. Mike Lucas said Thursday. "He certainly had the capability and potential to harm people."

"His intent was not to cause comfort or peace to anybody that was in the business here. In fact, he’s lucky to be alive still, to be honest," Lucas added.

In a Facebook post from February, on a page police believe belongs to Dmitriy Andreychenko, he allegedly wrote "It's official. I hate Walmart. Apparently they won't sell Rifle and shotgun ammo if your [sic] under 21. 'New policy' However I can walk into the store with a loaded .40 and nobody says anything. What a joke."

While the name and picture on the Facebook page appear to match the suspect, Springfield Police told ABC News it is too early to officially confirm his ownership of the page.

A spokesperson for Walmart shared a statement with ABC News, calling it "a reckless act designed to scare people, disrupt our business and it put our associates and customers at risk.

"We applaud the quick actions of our associates to evacuate customers from our store, and we’re thankful no one was injured. This person is no longer welcome in our stores. We are working with the authorities however we can and we appreciate their quick response that prevented this situation from escalating further," the spokesperson's statement reads.

The incident at the Missouri Walmart comes hours after police in Florida identified a man they were looking for who they alleged told a Walmart salesperson in Port St. Lucie that he was looking for something "that would kill 200 people."

Cops should just shoot these fuckers
@Ripley - why do you hate freedom?

If this were Florida (maybe Missouri too?)Andreychenko could have blasted the fireman and claimed stand your ground. He was just exercising his 2A rights and some dude pulls a gun on him? Blast away, he didn't know it was an off duty firefighter good samaritan, could be some dude looking to rob him!

Jesus Christ, this country.

It might be Missouri but Springfield is the 3rd largest city in the state and with all the news coverage lately people are gonna freak out.

You wouldn't even wanna try that shit in the rural areas in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, or Arkansas because even in rural areas you don't take your long gun out of the car unless you're gonna use it. About the only people who actually open carry pistols in my part of the world are farmers. They typically carry larger framed pistols and they might need to pull them fast to get a varmint.

I hate idiots whose idea of ‘freedom’ is terrorizing others. Guys like this are just compensating for feeling powerless in their own lives. If cops started proactively shooting people who look like mass shooters, pussies like this would think twice about trying to intimidate other people.

Profile of mass shooter: young white male chickenshit in body armor with a long gun.

BUT MUH GUNS
Thought of submitting this myself since it was my neck of the woods.

These kinds of open carry idiots actually need their guns taken because they're too goddamn stupid to handle them. Open carry doesn't mean go to walmart in Tacticool Gear immediately after someone else shoots up a walmart.
This fuckstick's rights ended at the door, because every walmart in the US has a NO FIREARMS sign on every entrance. Like every other "LOOK AHM OPEN CARRY" moron, he has clearly never bothered to actually research the law. He just wanted to parade around with his big metal dick extension and frighten people. If he can't comprehend why his actions were a bad idea, he shouldn't be allowed to handle anything more dangerous than a fork.

Not AT ALL excusing or supporting what this moron did, but (at least in my state) the no firearms signs being posted does not at all impact a person's right to still carry into the establishment, unless it's a place that you're already prohibited by law from carrying in.

The business can ask you to leave if they want, but the can't prevent you from coming in just by posting those signs.

Based on my (admittedly quick and lazy) Google, looks like MO has similar rules.

While about the absolute stupidest idiotic thing to do.. he didn’t do anything but walk in.. he didn’t do anything in a threatening manner to cause evacuation or such.. moron absolutely.. community service out the ass and a fine yes.. however idiots in jail will think he’s fucking cool and a new network of idiots to help him test their rights!

Yeah I don't understand why he was charged with making terrorist threats? Because he was carrying a long gun and wearing body armor? Last time I checked that is legal. Does it become illegal because there was a recent shooting? The guy made no threats verbally or physically. That's why I said earlier it would be interesting (and sad of course) if he had blasted the good samaritan in self defense - legally I think he would have a strong case under stand your ground laws.

Personally I think it's ridiculous it is legal to walk around in public places with military type weapons and body armor, I think that should be illegal ALL the time, not just after a mass shooting. However we have decided as a nation it's legal to walk around like Rambo, scaring the shit out of people.

I guess we need to codify into the law how long is appropriate one has to wait after a shooting to exercise their rights - and sure as the sun will rise tomorrow the NRA will fight the shit out of the new restriction lol.

Here is the Missouri statutes about terrorist threats. Scroll down to 574.120.
They're probably gunning (heh) for (3). They'll argue there's no way in hell that he didn't understand that his actions would cause fear. Andreychenko's wife and sister both told him he would frighten people and cause a panic, but he did it anyway.

I also found this. If Andreychenko shot the ex-fireman, stand your ground wouldnt apply. He was in the middle of committing a felony. That'd be chargeable as murder.

On the plus side, Casenet says his charge is a Class E Felony. Roughly three years ago, the Missouri supreme court ruled that convicted non-violent felons aren't allowed to possess firearms. Unless something changed between now and then.

Well fuck me sideways. Looked it up and you're correct. That law needs a re-write. I don't think people are going to want to approach a heavily armed man and ask him to leave.
