KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) — Danielle Reno isn’t an investigator, and she doesn’t work for the police department, but she used her best sleuthing skills to bring her car back home.

“Did I park somewhere else? No. I know I parked here. Somebody stole my car! And it was all downhill from there,” Reno, car theft victim, said.

It was a full investigation for Reno. She filed a police report for her missing 4Runner, then took things into her own hands.

“I got out of my car, grabbed my daughter, and my car was gone,” Reno said.

The non-stop hunt for her car started at a QuickTrip close to her house.

“We stalked this lady for 48 hours. She had no idea what we were doing,” Reno said.

Reno tracked purchases on her debit and credit cards, as well as the activity of her phone, which had been taken. An attendant at a gas station told Reno the car thieves said they were headed to Applebee’s. Reno decided it was time for dinner too.

“Got our waters and she walked in the door. I about had a heart attack,” Reno said.

Reno took the opportunity to slip out the front door and take back what was hers.

Very suspicious story. Something tells me she had something in that vehicle she didnt want the police finding, like drugs or illicit money of some sort.

She was able to track her down this well, get her location, but didnt call the cops to have them handle it until AFTER she was able to gain direct access to the vehicle? Stupid and again, highly suspect. There was more goin on here.

It appears this wasnt JUST some phantom card purchase tracking. According to the article, she got in the restuarant first and recognized the criminal when the thief walked in the door. So she had to of made at least visual contact previously as well, which establishes that at a previous point in time she had the exact current location of the thief tracked yet failed to alert authorities.

Either that, or she was talking to cops the whole time and this dept is beyond inept.

Im goin with she wanted to get her shit out of the vehicle first.

It took me less than one minute to find her on FB, see that she DID file a report right away, and that the people stole her car have been arrested. Y'all make up some wild theories.
Ooo. I like you.

If she is a drug dealer, at least she's a smart one.

Also hopefully, you don't mind it stripped, set on fire and 3 counties over. Oh btw you gotta pay the tow and storage fees for the carcass #toprotectandserve #sorta
Yes. That happened to me.
Cutest little 66 vw bug. Stripped of everything. Interior, seats, carpet, steering wheel, shifter knob, tires and rims, all the he chrome motor parts. They even took the cute droopy glass headlight covers. It got towed and the tow yard used a forklift to move it and bashed up what was left.
It cost me $700 to get out of the mess.

Truth. My car was stolen 2 weeks ago. They don't do shit
My folks' house was broken into a number of years back. My Dad was the one who cracked the case. Mr. Burglar Dude went to jail, but not because of a police investigation. They did charge everyone in the house with accessory after the fact and DPS seized all the kids, though, so at least they proceeded properly once given the scent.
