A mom is behind bars facing charges of criminal mistreatment after deputies say her son with autism was malnourished and found living in filthy conditions.
According to reports, Christina Hoffarth, 40, called the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office to her home because her son was throwing objects around their trailer.
When deputies arrived, they say Hoffarth told them she couldn't deal with her son and left.
Reports say when deputies entered the home, there was graffiti on the walls, and broken glass was all over the kitchen floor.
The child is now in protective custody after Hoffarth refused to come back to care for him.
