"According to an arrest slip, Donnie Rowe, 28, provided detectives with a Mirandized statement in which he admitted to inflicting severe injuries on his 2-month-old.

Officials said the infant has been receiving medical treatment since Saturday for multiple skull fractures, retinal hemorrhages and several other documented injuries that are consistent with abusive head trauma.

The arrest slip said the infant is currently on life support and it's unknown if he will survive the injuries.

Rowe is charged with assault and criminal abuse."

Neighbors in the Kenwood Mobile Home Park said Rowe came to them after he realized his son was hurt.
One of those neighbors, Tiffany Miller, said she tried to help.

“(The child) was pale white,” Miller said. “When I took him, he looked at me, grabbing my mouth, whimpering, but he was going uhhh, uhhh, uhhh, like he was gasping for air and couldn’t breathe.”

Miller said she gave the boy back to Rowe so he could change his diaper. She also said she told him to call 911, but said it wasn’t until Saturday when the baby got medical treatment.

Police said the baby suffered multiple skull fractures, retinal hemorrhages and several other injuries which are consistent with abusive head trauma.
“To have skull fractures like that, he had to be thrown, punched, or shook real hard,” Miller speculated.

According to Rowe’s police report, he was on drugs at the time and on Tuesday, admitted to police that he caused his son’s injuries.

The Louisville man accused of beating his infant son to the point of near-death appeared in Jefferson Circuit Court Monday.

Donnie Rowe pleaded not guilty to abuse and assault charges after allegedly causing skull fractures and other head trauma to his two-month-old son.

According to police, Rowe admitted to the acts.

On Monday, prosecution asked about their motion to get a look at Rowe’s medical records.

There have not been updates on Bryson since June.
A two-month-old baby is defying the odds. Bryson Rowe is now off life-support after police said his father, 28-year-old Donnie Rowe, severely abused him.

“He’s smiling, he’s making noises, he’s moving and he’s a very strong little boy," Bryson's mother, Tabitha Reinhardt said. “I’m excited, I mean it helps because it gives me hope that my son will get through it.”

The baby suffered multiple skull fractures and eye bleeds. Officials did not think he was going to make it.

"You don't think the person you fell in love with and the father of your child is going to do something like that," Reinhardt said.

The mother of three usually works overtime to provide for her family including on the night Bryson was hurt.

"I blamed myself for a while and I was like maybe I could've done something different, maybe if I stayed home, or maybe if I seen signs," Reinhardt said.

According to criminal records, Rowe has a history of domestic violence. Reinhardt and Rowe were dating for more than a year, but she said she had no knowledge of his past.

"[Bryson] is brain dead in some parts of his brain, however the doctor said since he is two months and your brain does change we could have a good outcome," Reinhardt said.

"You can't blame yourself if you can't see the signs," Reinhardt said. "People are really good at hiding it and you need to be strong for the child and for yourself."

Reinhardt said it is advice she hopes no one will need.

"If you can see any sign whatsoever even if it's just a small little hint, just be cautious," Reinhardt said. "Be mindful of yourself and follow your instincts."

Reinhardt said it is too early to tell what Bryson's condition will be like once he fully heals. She said he may have to use a wheelchair and his motor skills may be impacted.

"He is strong so I'm looking for the best outcome," Reinhardt said. "I don't think he's going to let it condemn him and I don't think this is going to define who he is at all."
