Hi Jack. Long-time Slackware user here, since 2.3. I recently had occasion to play with openSuSE Leap 15.0, and while I can't say it'll replace Slackware as a daily driver it certainly seems to be a likely candidate to do so if necessary.

At any rate, welcome.

Thanks for the welcome, everybody!

I'm pretty new to the tech world, so I'm learning as I go. Working the overnights is helping a lot with that because I have a lot of time to play around with this stuff.

Never been married, no kids (just three cats), so I have the ability to pretty much work wherever and whenever I want. It's nice being able to work from my basement office pretty much every night. I've been looking for some good forums to keep me company while I work, and this seems to be one of the most active and interesting that I've come across.

Hey Jack, welcome to the forums! We're glad you're here. Since you're a tech guy I'm gonna have to ask you, Totes, Alf and Ghosttruck to get right on fixing Facebook for me! (kidding) It's been messed up all morning. Didn't know we'd put you to work did you? ;)

Alf - I use multiple distros. The company I work for provides support for Linux-based applications, and we support Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, Arch, Gentoo, Fedora and Slackware.

I prefer Ubunti and CentOS, personally, as I'm still pretty much a novice and those are good distros to learn on. Debian, too, because it's pretty much Ubuntu,
