Prince of Darkness Hospitalized Again In Latest Health Scare

The Elder Statesman of Metal has been hospitalized again in another of a series of recent health scares.

Ozzy Osbourne went back to the hospital, according to a February 6th tweet from wife Sharon, "following some complications from the flu." He was admitted to Keck Hospital following a diagnosis of "a severe upper respiratory infection" and has since cancelled the two-month European leg of "No More Tours 2," which featured Judas Fucking Priest as a support band.

The Australian leg of the tour is scheduled to start March 9th, followed by a swing through North America with Megadeth that kicks off May 31st in Sunrise, FL.

These latest cancellations follow on the heels of four missed dates at the end of the initial North American leg of the tour, caused by an October surgery and a week-long hospitalization to treat a life-threatening staph infection in Ozzy's right hand. Doctors indicated that there were actually three different infected sites on the Hand of Doom, and speculated that the infection could have occurred due to shaking hands at a meet-and-greet, which raises the grim possibility that one of Ozzy's fans almost killed him. Son Jack said earlier today, via Instagram, that the Prince of Darkness was "doing much better."

I sincerely hope so. Ozzy is no spring chicken and staph will knock even a young man's dick in the dirt; no doubt his immune system still isn't up to speed. Then again, all of the alcohol and blow on the planet have failed to kill him so far, so he may be ultimately impervious to bacteria as well.

I never thought Ozzy should be called by such a title, he never seemed that "dark" to warrant a Princeship. He's more a Patrician of Darkness, you know, just a minor noble of the Underworld, who is still royalty, but not overly wealthy, so he still has a regular job to make ends meet, like a accountant or a barrister.

I do ... The Writ is one of the scariest songs I ever heard In my life ... the wailing ... and its all screamy.

I'm one of those (many) folks that points to Black Sabbath as the first metal band- the band that coalesced the various necessary influences into the seminal expression of the genre that I love and that I have devoted most of my life to (and will devote the remainder of my life to, as well). Accordingly, Ozzy has a supremely important place in my personal cosmology.

That said, Ozzy is Ozzy. He's like an out-of-control, larger-than-life chaos-spawning idiot god. Like Azathoth, if Azathoth was a mortal, sentient being that drank like a fish and bumbled its life from one misadventure to the next. And had a less-than-likable family.

Putting aside the man, though, and considering just the icon, his influence on heavy music can't be overstated.

When I was but a young thing (15-16ish) Ozzy came around touring with Rollins Band and Type O Negative, and I HADDDDDD to go. I asked my Mom, she basically said hell to the no. Then she got slick and said, welllll.... go ask your Dad (thinking he'd never in a million years agree, and that'd be the end of that).

Dad said, "Ozzy?!? Well shit, everyone needs to see Ozzy, I remember going to see Black Sabbath and it was amazing!"

And that's how I got to go see some of my favorite performers all in one night. <3
RIP Pete Steele :(

I saw him a couple more times after that at Ozzfests, and he's always been incredible. He's just this cute little rocker shuffling around in literal old man house slippers, singing up a metal storm. The juxtaposition is awesome.

I'm not a huge fan of Ozzy's music, but Black Sabbath, to me, was the first heavy metal band and the beginning of my favorite genre of music. Ozzy also put out Diary of a Madman, one of the best metal albums ever recorded (RIP Rhoads)

RIP Pete Steele

Still sucks. All my favorite bands have lost their leads over the years. I'm still waiting for news that Chino Moreno blew his brains out or plopped over dead from a heart attack. I seriously think I curse bands by liking them.

I hope he heals soon, and his immune system stabilizes - he's been a fascination and serious study subject of many neurologists for several years now, as they attempt to figure out how his brain continues to function so well despite the myriad and enormous amount of drugs he's done in the past.
It seems that most of the people who've done less than half the amount of psychedelic and other of the more addictive drugs than Ozzy has, have succumbed to serious brain function loss, damage or even brain death - but ol' Ozzy just keeps on keeping on with his badassed self, and continuing to show us his wit and remarkable sense of humor, while still performing and rocking newer generations out to his music.

Earlier today on some trash TV show, Sharon said "He's doing good. He's breathing on his own."

...which tells me that it was a lot worse than they were letting on.

One of these days ... he is going to die. This is good we get a practice run ... it will help us cope!

My parents and sister and grama went to see him in '07 I think it was, with Rob Zombie and In This Moment. Ozzy mooned everybody, and Rob got so close to my mom she could have grabbed his ass (her words haha) and the lead singer from In This Moment was headbanging so hard one of her boobs fell out of her dress and she just shrugged and put it back in there. I still kick myself in the teeth for choosing a 1gb iPod for an 8th grade graduation gift over that concert
I hope Ozzy makes a full and quick recovery, i can imagine him laying there in his death bed having taken his last breath, flat-lining then be like ALL ABOOOOOARD HA HA HA.
Sorry I'm kinda retarded, my imagination gets way ahead of me, that isn't jinxing him is it >__<

“Ozzy recently developed pneumonia and has spent some time in hospital. Thankfully he is now through the worst part,” says Sharon Osbourne. “His doctors have advised that he stay at home to recuperate for a full six weeks with no travel.”

So... it was pneumonia. Earlier reporting did not indicate that the infection had made it all the way deep into his lungs. Very serious, perhaps life-altering at his age.

I had double walking pneumonia when I was in my mid-30s. It did enough damage to my lungs that I had bronchitis six times in the next year, and the first four times were serious cases. And I was otherwise healthy as a mule. And my pneumonia was not bad enough that I ended up on artificial respiration, which it sounds like happened to Ozzy.

This is a big fucking deal.

Ozzy Osbourne is back to his "normal," "complaining" self, more than a month after the BLACK SABBATH singer was hospitalized because of flu complications.

Ozzy is one i wouldnt miss nowadays.

Dio and Lemmy were still performing and doing kickass shows on top of it right before their health failed. Ozzy has been shit for decades now.

So... Ozzy took a tumble. More tour dates cancelled.

Ozzy Osbourne has postponed all of his 2019 tour dates. During his recent bout with pneumonia, Ozzy sustained an undisclosed injury, which required surgery, after falling at his home.

According to a press release, Osbourne’s fall re-aggravated injuries sustained from his near-fatal 2003 ATV accident. Ozzy remains under doctor’s care in Los Angeles as he recovers.
