Police say a 1-year-old baby was stabbed in the neck and killed near Youngstown.

They've taken the father, 29-year-old Marc Flora, into custody on a murder charge.

Campbell Police Lt. Kevin Sferra said Flora was home alone with his two kids. The other child was unharmed, sleeping in the other room, when investigators arrived.

Flora called police soon after the child had been stabbed.

He told police that he blacked out and when he came to, the baby was dead, Sferra said.

Police said they believe that the mother of the children was at work.

Sferra said officers were called to the same home about two months ago for a domestic call.

How she are we that he wasn't trying to cut her hair? It looks like they have been chopping her beautiful locks with a knife anyway

He might not have cut the bangs. When I was two, I got the scissors and cut my own bangs, because they were annoying me. Unfortunately, I cut them unevenly, at an diagonal angle, so my mother "fixed" the problem by cutting them all to the shortest length. There are several pics of me looking like a goober with my crazy short bangs.

Holy hell! Yeah, every one will believe that with the mean mug he’s showing! WTF!! Dude! You look like you’re going to kill everyone with that face!

A Mahoning judge had strong words for a man who killed his 1-year-old daughter.

"This is pure evil. This is Michael Myers kind of stuff here," said Judge R. Scott Krichbaum.

Thursday, 30-year-old Marc Flora pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in connection to the baby's brutal death.

Prosecutors said the child had been stabbed at least eight times.

Two other children were home at the time but were unharmed.

Flora called police after the child had been stabbed. He told them that he blacked out, and when he came to, the baby was dead, according to a police report.

Although Flora's lawyer said there were no excuses for this crime, his client had suffered from mental health issues most of his life.

"An old family acquaintance would feed him LSD and psychedelic drugs for the amusement of watching a child run around and act crazy," said Attorney Doug Taylor.

But the victim's uncle -- Flora's brother-in-law -- told the judge that Flora needs to be held accountable.

"He knew what he did before he did it. He knew what he was doing while he was doing it," said Adam McClarren.

The charge against Flora calls for mandatory life imprisonment, but the judge questioned at one point why prosecutors never sought death penalty charges.

"Personally, frankly, life without parole is too nice for you," Krichbaum said.

In the end, Judge Krichbaum sentenced Flora to life in prison with the eligibility for parole in 30 years. He said even though Flora is eligible for parole, he hopes he is never released.

"...suffered from mental health issues... " - he certainly looks mentally well. :penguin:

So, the judge questions why the death penalty was not sought, but then sentenced him to life with the possibility of parole. Was life without parole not an option?
"...[Judge Krichbaum] hopes [Flora] is never released." then, why give him that option?
