Truly awesome @Satanica . You pick out the most amazing pieces! Anyone who can listen to this without feeling it all the way down to their pinky toes isn't listening. The engineering mix is hardcore perfection and the bridge is stellar. Tasty addition to the playlist!

Here's what I've been listening to today: :)

Still Frame ~ Trapt

Please help me 'cause I'm breaking down
This picture's frozen and I can't get it out
Please help me 'cause I'm breaking down
This picture's frozen and I can't get it out of here
Release me, I'm just as lost as you
Believe me yea, I'm just as lost as you

And every time I think I've finally made it
I learn I'm farther away than I've ever been before
I see the clock and it's ticking away
And the hourglass empty
What the fuck do I have to say

Please help me 'cause I'm breaking down
This picture's frozen and I can't get it out
Please help me 'cause I'm breaking down
This picture's frozen and I can't get it out of here
Release me, I'm just as lost as you
Believe me, I'm just as lost as you

Keep it inside, the image portrayed
As if I couldn't stand losing as if I couldn't be saved, no way
A small confession, I think I'm starting to lose it
I think I'm drifting away from the people I really need
A small reflection on when we were younger

We had it all figured out
'Cause we had everything covered
Now we're older it's getting harder to see
What this future will hold for us
What the fuck are we going to be?

Please help me 'cause I'm breaking down
This picture's frozen and I can't get it out
Please help me 'cause I'm breaking down
This picture's frozen and I can't get it out of here
Release me, I'm just as lost as you
Believe me yea, I'm just as lost as you

Lost, lost, lost, lost, lost, lost, lost, lost
I'm just as lost as you, oh babe
What am I going to do?

I'm afraid I'm falling farther away
I'm falling farther away
I'm falling farther from where I want to be
I'm afraid I'm falling farther away
I'm falling farther away
I'm falling farther away

Please help me 'cause I'm breaking down
This picture's frozen and I can't get it out
Please help me 'cause I'm breaking down
This picture's frozen and I can't get it out of here
Release me, I'm just as lost as you
Believe me, I'm just as lost as you

I'm just as lost as you
(Not breaking me down)
I'm just as lost as you
(Not breaking me down)

As a life long "purist snob" when it comes to covers, when I first heard this, I got cold chills from head to toe, esp. when it picks up at the 01:46 mark then opens up into the powerful orchestral rock anthem riffs and David Draiman's pitch fucking PERFECT screamo-esque voice at about the 02:55 mark on through until he busts completely out and lets go. His perfectly metered baritone vibrato in the last sentence of the stanza is Dead. On. Beautiful, too.

Watching the video just makes this incredible piece all the sweeter as he looks directly into the camera and gives great face. :D As a multi-music connoisseur, I just can't say enough about this one. No one can ever replace Simon & Garfunkel's timeless version, but unlike SO many other covers/cover bands, this is no simple, rewarmed, rehashed, "I did it my way" thievin' bullshit knock off. This is simply a fantastic rock tribute to a fantastic folk song. If you have a spare 04:10, check it out.

Oh, and the fact he's a dead sexy, 42 y.o. Pisces destined to be my next husband really has nothing to do with it.

*whispers to self* Gawd DAWGS he'd look :hungry: in quarter leathers, leather cuffs, a choke chain and a open front leather duster chained to my four poster... :hilarious:

I heard this version for the first time a couple of weeks ago and got chills, then watched the video and...your words can't be improved upon. Thanks, @gatekeeper..I will always have a spare 04:10 to check out your next husband ;)

I'm loving this thread, it's much more diverse than I thought!

I recommend it, too. ;)

You Learn ~ Alanis Morrisette

Oh, oh, oh

I, recommend getting your heart trampled on to anyone, yeah
I, recommend walking around naked in your living room, yeah

Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill)
It feels so good (swimming in your stomach)
Wait until the dust settles

You live you learn, you love you learn
You cry you learn, you lose you learn
You bleed you learn, you scream you learn

I, recommend biting off more than you can chew to anyone
I certainly do
I, recommend sticking your foot in your mouth at any time
Feel free

Throw it down (the caution blocks you from the wind)
Hold it up (to the rays)
You wait and see when the smoke clears

You live you learn, you love you learn
You cry you learn, you lose you learn
You bleed you learn, you scream you learn

I, I, oh, oh

Wear it out (the way a three-year-old would do)
Melt it down (you're gonna have to eventually, anyway)
The fire trucks are coming up around the bend

You live you learn, you love you learn
You cry you learn, you lose you learn
You bleed you learn, you scream you learn

You grieve you learn, you choke you learn
You laugh you learn, you choose you learn
You pray you learn, you ask you learn
You live you learn

Some called her a whiner with this one, I called them constipated apes in denial. :D

You Oughta Know ~ Alanis Morrisette
I want you to know, that I am happy for you
I wish nothing but the best for you both
An older version of me
Is she perverted like me?
Would she go down on you in a theater?
Does she speak eloquently
And would she have your baby?
I'm sure she'd make a really excellent mother

'Cause the love that you gave that we made
Wasn't able to make it enough for you
To be open wide, no
And every time you speak her name
Does she know how you told me
You'd hold me until you died
'Til you died, but you're still alive

And I'm here, to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It's not fair, to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know

You seem very well, things look peaceful
I'm not quite as well, I thought you should know
Did you forget about me, Mr. Duplicity?
I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner
It was a slap in the face
How quickly I was replaced
And are you thinking of me when you fuck her?

'Cause the love that you gave that we made
Wasn't able to make it enough for you
To be open wide, no
And every time you speak her name
Does she know how you told me
You'd hold me until you died
'Til you died, but you're still alive

And I'm here, to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It's not fair, to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know

'Cause the joke that you laid in the bed
That was me and I'm not gonna fade
As soon as you close your eyes, and you know it
And every time I scratch my nails
Down someone else's back I hope you feel it
Well, can you feel it?

And I'm here, to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It's not fair, to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know

Back in the day, on the old schoolyard, a friend of mine sold me an LP -"I didn't like it, would you want it for half its price"?- I saw the album's cover and that hooked me up: "sure!". There I went back to home and listened to it right away... I didn't get it. Since I couldn't take it back, and certainly I would loose money trying to sell it again, I decided to hear it carefully, again... and again until I realized that I was hooked on the music. It was mesmerizing. It showed me what music is all about: it is not only the melody, or the rhythm nor the harmony or the lyrics, it is all of it and even more... something exciting and indescriptible. It wasn't rock, it wasn't jazz or blues or classical... it was all of that and non of them. Just music. RIP Keith Emerson. Thank you.

"You Oughta Know" is one of my all time favorites - that chick can spew some serious venom ;)
I'll have to read this thread from the beginning so I don't post any duplicates - that should keep me busy for awhile!

Sorry, my usual text align left isn't working for this one cuz browser trolls. I know this is more of a news link posted in Shout by @Totemic (great to see you, and thanks! <3 ), but I'm posting it hear b/c both the song and Heart are long time faves (I've posted on this info. before, waaay back somewhere), but when my other husbo (deceased) and I had a small business, the beer and booze reps (wholesalers) would always bring us concert freebies, block seating tix, promo gifts, you name it to encourage our purchases. One my favorite concerts was Heart, all free tix, VIP seating, backstage passes and personal Meet & Greet pass cards (old thing here, don't know if they still require it). The wine reps were always good for free tastings, symphony, theatre, and opera tix, etc. Was amazing. Anyway, since Ann's finally come back with a big FUCKYOU on the fat-shamers and they're touring again, here it is, and thanks again, Totes! If anyone's interested in their 2016 tour dates, their schedule is posted below the vid. :)

I begged her to shoot me in the head
She took my gun and shot my leg instead
The way she held my gun and looked at me with rage
Told me that everything was OK and I survived

Don't know why this is considered a doublepost, but okay.

Together we have this love
Even so it's not enough
Bruised and burned we won't lose heart
And just because life gets hard
Writing lying e-mails to our friends back home
Feeling guilty if we sometimes wanna be alone

Hand cannot erase this love
Hand cannot erase this love

And a love like this makes us strong
We laugh it off if things go wrong
It's not you, forgive me if I find I need more space
Cause trust means we don't have to be together everyday

Hand cannot erase this love
Hand cannot erase this love
