I know you will all miss me terribly when I go on vacation next week, but I will be checking in from time to time. When I come back, I will be focusing on some front page stuff as well as the forums. The front page practically runs itself, and a couple of writers will be returning (as well as a couple new ones), so this thread is more about the forums.

I'm not clueless, so I know where a lot of the forums pros and cons are, but it is more from an administrative standpoint. I want some feedback from you guys. What are some areas that you think can be improved on? Are there any features or forums you would like to see added? Removed? Is there anything that can be done, from my end, to make things better?

Feel free to speak openly - you won't hurt my feelings none if you have some negative feedback - this forum has been around a decade - I always wear my big boy pants. I know it seems inevitable in threads like this, but do not turn this into a bitch-fest with other members. I am looking for constructive feedback, not a bunch of bickering.

I'll respond here, as well as the podcast that will be either tonight or tomorrow night.

I think it's a little strange that we can't delete comments in a traditional sense. I've caught wind of drama surrounding people leaving conversations, suggesting to me that the other person knows you've left (I don't know; I haven't tried). Given the, uh, nature of communication I typically receive in my inbox, I don't need people getting all butthurt because I left a conversation.

However, if it does not appear to them that I left, I suppose it's a non-issue. I'll go try.

That's just the way Xenforo handles conversations. Not much I can do about that. Conversations are like invite only threads. When you sent a Convo to multiple people all people see all replies. When a person leaves a conversation they no longer receive replies.

Conversations are not "deleted" like PM's. But in the end it works the same as vB. In vB the message exists until both people delete. In Xenforo once all applicants leave a conversation it deletes within 24 hours. So to delete a Convo just leave it permanently. Once everyone is gone it will delete.

A lot of people have asked for Xenforo to handle deleting PMs like normal, but it's really just a change in presentation\verbiage, not functionality.

Okay, but, does the other person see that a conversation with 2 participants originally now contains only 1? I'm not so much worried about whether the conversation exists or not, but I try to avoid whining whenever possible.

Either way, I'll find out, as I just left several conversations. :p

@Morbid , I think you've built a lovely sandbox. Thank you.

One of the main issues I have is that the site goes down at least once a day usually. Or every other day. Is this a bandwidth issue?

Now that I have actually listened to a podcast, I implore you to do more of them more often. It would also be an interesting twist if more varied members got to cohost.

The private messaging feature I think is essential to maintaining civility in some threads. I dislike not being able to privately talk with some members.

If a comment of mine is deleted from a thread, I would always like to be notified. And do we keep the rep we receive on a deleted comment?

Kudos to you, sir. I'm sir you'll disagree with something I said, but that is all well and good.

I strongly encourage all posters to donate via Patreon. Morby deserves it for putting up with our shit (or mine!).

everyone knows how I stumbled on my first stories and still can screw up with my love of pics so first I slap myself around here then:
put articles in the right categories if individual hasn't, sometimes it is hard to decide on a category but if the article is over a minor [underage vic] put it in crimes against children, etc and so on
thanks so much for the new improved ability to fix an article by the poster when they screw up, including the title!
Dakotas notes to would be posters is always great and I'm sure she has added in there to put the vic if applicable and definitely the perps name in title. The new search is much better also.
I think you are doing a killer job.

It would also be an interesting twist if more varied members got to cohost.

Different co-hosts only seems to be forum member fan-service only. People who do not visit the forums (and the bulk of the listeners) expect a certain format. On top of that, myself and Jaded have an easy rapport that let's me know, beforehand, how the podcast will go. Bringing in different members to co-host eliminates that, and could prove disastrous. Calling in to the show? Absolutely. Co-hosting entire shows? Not in the foreseeable future.

If a comment of mine is deleted from a thread, I would always like to be notified. And do we keep the rep we receive on a deleted comment?

For the most part, when someone's comment is deleted, they know why it was deleted (and oftentimes know it will probably be deleted when they made the comment to begin with). But we do have the option to notify a user when a comment is deleted, I just don't for no other reason than it is a lot quicker not to.

I strongly encourage all posters to donate via Patreon. Morby deserves it for putting up with our shit (or mine!).

Listen to the lady. She speaks the truth!

Yes, it will show to the other participant that the other has left the convo. Why that would induce whining is beyond me, though. It just means the other person chose not to be a part of the convo any longer.

It shouldn't, but neither should 100% of the other things people find me to privately whine about.
I could look for other things to privately whine to you about if it helps take your mind off the convo thing.

Can we add flashing colors to the text color options in the Shoutbox?

Several individuals have contacted me asking why I was "dropped", lol. I've been telling them it's because it got moved to Friday and you just know better than to expect my availability on a Friday. Don't you tell me I'm wrong.

Goin' to see a band tonight.

I don't recall you privately whining, so please don't start. I told my husband to hold of on buying a gun the other night. I believe it's directly relatable. :laser:

Yeah, on top of Jaded's schedule being all wonkified, it's just sort of worked out like that. You weren't dropped, everyone's schedule has just made doing podcasts a last minute ordeal.

I suggest a 'no ban' fee via Patreon. Pay 100 dollars a month per Patreon, and get to say whatever the fuck we want.

I think this is fair. One hundred smackaroos a month should ease that headache you get from dealing with all the sandy vaginas and eunuchs.

I'd like to see the return of the NSFW section. Certainly things are going to be posted there that offend someone in some way, but such is life.

Highly doubtful, and it has nothing to do with anyone being offended - in fact, I've never had anyone report being offended by them or their content. However, throughout the last 10 years we have tried various NSFW forums and they have all ended up producing more trouble than benefits - for various different reasons.

I'd like a giant banner across every page that says, "DG IS AWESOME, BOW BEFORE HER"

Well it doesn't have to be giant... and I'd settle for that being added to everyone's signatures.

My inner attention whore also misses the blogs now that I'm getting medicated again and actually sorta feel like doing shit.

I'd like you to not notice I've been logged in on up to three systems at the same time before. Thanks. Bye!

You know, Morbid, you're really ruining the image I have of you.
You're trying to give yourself more work by asking us to pick apart a well-oiled machine. So, please, allow me to assist you.
@Athena, if you have the conversation problem again, just tell them that by sending you the magic word "hey", you can then send back the magic word "what", the two will mate in the ether and give birth to a new conversation. I realize some will get lost in the "science" of it all, but we have to accept those losses and move on.
@piratewench, if you want a podcast at UK time, you should find someone stateside that lives near Morbid, has a can-do attitude and is willing to help. Because, while no one can deny the power of suggestion, the power of harassment is well, more powerful, and there is only so long he will deny you if more and more of his possessions get U.K. spray painted on them.
As for the porn suggestion, I hear tell Morbid is working on his very own personalized birthday greetings for us. No word yet on specifics, but I understand Morbid is researching this porn angle damn near hourly because he loves us that much. *tear*
Finally, I know we have to keep all the rules but two main ones should be highlighted.
If you like it here, welcome.
If you don't GTFO.

You can install one of these, if you like, too.

Maybe it's just me and my newbie-ness with an iPad - but can we post pictures from our camera roll? I can't locate a feature to bring up a picture from my iPad. TY

I feel like my suggestions aren't really being taken seriously.

May I suggest that y'all take my suggestions seriously? Or at least make me feel like you do?

Okay, I'll stop spamming the thread now.

How do you feel about adding some kind of 'International Crime News' forum (excluding wars, insurgents, political stuff, etc.)? I've gotten several news publications that have some really good, true crime sections from all over Africa proper, Nigeria and India via email for a few years, but I've hesitated to post the gory/outrageous D'D worthy articles until yesterday since most things are specific to horrendous crimes here in the U.S, Canada and the U.K. Maybe others read International crime news, too?

If not a separate forum w/certain crime content guidelines, is it O.K. to keep mixing them in with the other ITMT, CAC and other related forums content? My secondary reasoning is to kind of highlight that we aren't the only ones who have problems with the sick, cruel, twisted and just plain fuggin' nuts.

It is perfectly ok to mix in crime stories from anywhere in their respective forums.

Are there any features or forums you would like to see added?
Yes. A 'fuck your stupid face' smiley.
Oh, and now that I have become accustomed to your damn arrows, can you please put them everywhere else on the internet? Thanks.
