Sex offenders in a Scottish prison have complained that their grub is spiked by other lags - saying their soup is often peed in and that they have found bits of metal - and even an old shoe - in their food.
Lags at HMP Glenochil, a 670-capacity jail near Alloa in Scotland, say that the food is made by prisoners in the 'non sex offender' wing and that they target them because of their crimes.
The prison is split into two main wings, Harviestoun - which houses just over 300 mainstream lags - and Abercrombie, which is home to around 350 sex offenders.
The food is made by prisoners in the Harviestoun, and lags in Abercrombie have complained that their food is often 'spiked' with foreign objects.
One unnamed inmate on the sex offender wing wrote to prisoners' magazine Inside Time in the latest May edition out this week that he had seen bits of metal in food, as well as human faeces and a SHOE.
He wrote that it was also suspected that prisoners on the Harviestoun wing often urinated in the soup being served up in the Abercrombie wing as 'punishment' for being sex offenders.
He said: "The daily cost to feed a prisoner is roughly £2.30 per day and the standard of food here is very poor.
"I am in the protection hall (Abercrombie) and it is mainstream prisoners who work in the cookhouse, so every day there is issues with our food.
"From not cooked to constant shortages and foreign objects in the food.
"In my time in this prison I have had metal, human faeces, urine in the soup and once, a shoe was found in the urn of custard."
He added: 'The food delivered to this hall is constantly cold and we are not allowed to complain as the prison just brush it under the carpet.
"Yes, we are prisoners, but we still have a right to be fed.
"As for the kitchen itself, it is disgracefully dirty and the mainstream prisoners who work there are the best paid in the prison, but they do what they want.
"I do expect to be fed properly and not have to eat human faeces as happened recently."
