A man has been charged with raping a teenager in College Hill after living under the teen's bed for three weeks, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors said 20-year-old Jaret Wright, from Akron, met the teenager on Instagram and spent three weeks under the victim's bed. Prosecutors said the teenager knew Wright was hiding out under the bed, but the teen's mother was unaware. It is unclear if Wright was in and out of the home during that time.

According to court documents, Wright faces three counts of rape and one charge related to taking nude photos of the teenager. Court documents state Wright forcefully administered a drug or intoxicant to the teen before the rapes occurred.
Authorities did not say how the mother eventually learned Wright was in the residence.

According to court documents, Wright forced the girl to have sex with him. Bail has been set at $50,000 for Wright, who remains jailed.

It is always advisable to make sure that there are no monsters under the beds of your children. An easy and effective way to do this is with a sword. Just bend over slightly and make a few stabs. Guaranteed there will be no problems with monsters pestering your loved ones.

An Ohio man is accused of raping a Cincinnati teenager and living under her bed for three weeks?Jaret Wright, 20, of Barberton, met the girl online. He is charged with three counts of sexual assault and one count of producing child pornography. The victim is between 13 and 18 years old and his bond is set at 50,000. Sorry, that is the only info in the article lol. Oh, and Barberton is very white trash, so I'm not surprised.

How does one "live" under a teens bed?? I thought that was where they stored all the crap they were supposed to put away when they "cleaned" their room... and or storage for half eaten plates of food, they were not supposed to have in their bedroom.
(will I be charged if my 18 year old has allowed someone to live in these above mentioned situations, under his bed)??

Wtf? Three weeks???

How could the mother miss that for 3 weeks?

Maybe a single mom working two jobs? My parents were so busy in their own fucked up lives.. they probably wouldn’t have noticed.. it was feast or famine with my parents.. either under the damn thumb where I couldn’t breathe or didn’t notice I was alive.. I imagine a lot of that shit happens..

But, damn, that was from almost a year ago, Do they just recycle this every now and then when they don't have anything else?
Oooops sorry.

It's not your fault! Neither of the links for yours bothered to mention that the story was originally published around May of 2020. I sent them a message about that, too.

The man who lived in a 15-year-old girl's basement bedroom for three weeks without her family knowing pleaded guilty Wednesday to three counts of gross sexual imposition and a child pornography charge, both low-level felonies.

Jaret Wright's plea in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court came two days before Judge Jennifer Branch was set to decide whether he was guilty of charges including three counts of rape.

Prosecutors said Wright used physical and psychological force to compel the girl to have sex.

Wright, 21, chose to have a non-jury trial, which took place over three days earlier this month. According to testimony, Wright and the girl had sex almost daily.

In the days leading up to Branch's decision, prosecutors and Wright's attorneys with the public defender's office, James Moore and Amy Detisch, negotiated a plea deal that likely means Wright will be sentenced to time served and probation.
Branch on Wednesday released Wright on a bond that doesn't require him to post any money. She imposed several conditions, including:

  • 24-hour house arrest
  • Wright will be monitored electronically
  • The teenage victim and her family will be alerted if he leaves the home
  • He is not allowed to have any contact with the girl
"No calling, texting, Snapchatting," Branch told him.

Wright is from Barberton, which is near Akron. But he will stay locally with a friend and isn't allowed to leave the county.

According to trial testimony, Wright and the girl met in late 2020 on Snapchat. In February 2021, he took a bus to Cincinnati and lived with the girl in the basement bedroom of her College Hill house between February and March 2021. Her mother and siblings didn't know.

When he was arrested on March 13, 2021, he was hiding under the girl's bed, his arms wrapped around the box spring's frame, according to testimony.

Prosecutors made errors in handling the case. They inadvertently indicted Wright under a rape law that involves giving drugs or intoxicants to an alleged victim. There was no evidence of that.

Prosecutors also failed to indict Wright – within the required time frame – on a lesser charge, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, which Branch said he “confessed to.” Branch said prosecutors proved during the trial that he was guilty of that.

Six days before Jaret Wright took a Greyhound to Cincinnati and moved into a teen girl’s basement bedroom he was arrested in the Akron area – after police found him hiding in his uncle’s basement.
Wright’s uncle, who lives in Norton, told The Enquirer that Wright last year broke in through a window and lived in the basement for possibly several days. Police found him wrapped up in a sleeping bag, the uncle, Tom Wright, said.

He said Jaret Wright, who at the time was 20, "was trying to have sexual relations” with a teenage cousin, the uncle’s daughter. Tom and Jaret Wright are not related by blood, and it’s a coincidence they share the same last name. Tom’s sister was married to Jaret’s father.
“He’s a danger to society. He really is,” Tom Wright said.

Details of Jaret Wright’s 2021 northeast Ohio case were not presented during his bench trial, which took place last month in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.
But it was discussed briefly during Wright’s sentencing Thursday as a burglary case, which is the charge Wright still faces in Summit County.
Judge Jennifer Branch sentenced Wright, 21, to three years of probation. Before he begins probation, he has to successfully complete treatment at a lockdown facility in Warren County. The facility, the Talbert House – Turtle Creek Center, offers services including sex offender treatment, job education and corrective thinking.

Branch said Wright, who is from the Akron area, can’t be released from Turtle Creek until he has housing locally and can show he has a job or is looking for a job.
Wright also must register as a sex offender for the next 15 years. And if he violates probation, he faces up to 4½ years in prison.
