A friend of a Scottish man who went missing during a stag do in Hamburg has said his family and friends are growing "more and more concerned".

Liam Colgan, 29, from Inverness, has not been seen since the early hours of Saturday when he was out celebrating, ahead of his brother Eamonn's wedding.

Mr Colgan is the best man and planned the trip to Germany.

He was last seen at about 01:30 on Saturday in the Reeperbahn area of the city, in the Hamborger Veermaster bar.

At the time of the last sighting the Mr Colgan was wearing a brown leather jacket and a grey hoodie. He is 6ft tall with red hair.

Might be a good time to start dredging canals. =/ Depending how drunk he was, its more than concievable he fell into one. Or he fell asleep somewhere and is wandering, lost and confused.

Or he was murdered.

I hope he turns up, but the longer it goes without a sighting, the less likely that is...

Maybe his bride to be slit his throat for having a Stag.

Not his bride. He was the best man.

"6ft tall with red hair"

Is killing gingers in Germany still legal?

You are thinking of Jews, and no, that went out of fashion in the nineteen forties.

The brother of Liam Colgan, who disappeared on a stag do in Hamburg, has issued a plea for him to get in touch.

Meanwhile German police have said they have "ever growing concern" for him.

The last bar they were in was the Hamborger Viermaster.

"We thought Liam had left just a couple of minutes before us," remembers Eamonn.

"When he wasn't waiting for us outside, there was no reason to panic. He'd organised the whole trip so he'd researched the city and knew better than any of us how to get home."

But when Eamonn woke the next morning, Liam wasn't there.

"That's when panic set in. I was sharing a room with him. We looked in all the other rooms but there was no sign of him."

Eamonn was worried enough to go straight to the police.

But because it's not uncommon for people to go missing on stag nights, officers in Hamburg couldn't treat it as a missing persons case until 24 hours had passed.

Officers in Hamburg have made contact with hospitals and taxi companies, used search dogs, conducted witness interviews, published photographs in newspapers, TV and online and tried to find his mobile phone.

Initially Eamonn, a police officer himself, went home.

"Going back without him was horrible. I felt guilty about leaving," he says.

He's now back in the German city to help the police and is trying to get Liam's face shown around Hamburg as much as possible.

The family of a Scottish man - missing after a stag weekend in Germany - have released photos of the first confirmed sighting since his disappearance.

CCTV images show Liam about an hour after the group had last seen him in the Veermaster Bar.

He was helped up some steps by a passerby at the G&J building in Baumwall after a fall.

Further sightings after this in the Buxtehude area are also being investigated.

The Royal Mail worker's family earlier revealed fears he may have been hurt and lost his memory.

The family stressed that Liam does not speak any German.

And they are unsure if he is still wearing the same clothes or has obtained different clothing.

The body of missing Inverness man Liam Colgan has been found in the River Elbe in Hamburg, according to a charity which helps his family.

In a statement issued on his family's behalf, the Lucie Blackman Trust said Liam's driving licence was found in a pocket of the man found in the river.

He was also wearing the clothes Liam was last seen wearing.

Formal identification has still to be carried out.
