He killed his family, buried them and then buried himself alive.Don't prove me wrong. I hate it when people do that.

Sounds sinister as hell ..
I wonder what Joseph and/or Summer were into to know such people.....
I see a lot of similarities with this case:
"... a whole family disappeared : Xavier Flactif, his partner, Graziella and their three children. Their cottage located in The Grand Bornand is found empty, everything looked to be in order but ready-made meals are found and the fridge is full of food...

That's why I think the father is right, the perp is someone they knew, someone full of jealousy, anger against a beautifull and happy family with enough money to buy a house.
- Old track marks 67 inches apart found at site where the skeletal remains of McStay family were found in California desert - 100 miles from family home they vanished from in 2010
- Joseph McStay's brother, Michael, tells MailOnline he's convinced killer had local knowledge
- There is quarry nearby so sight of a digger would not be out of place
- A shooting range is down street too - so sound of gunshots is commonplace
- Michael says everyone is a suspect and he expects to be quizzed again
- Family held emotional memorial at grave site yesterday on and sang happy birthday to Joseph on the day he would have turned 44
- Close friend Chase Merritt who has been accused of having a hand in their disappearance broke his silence with MailOnline after family's remains were found last Friday
When I watched the nancy grave mysteries on the mcstay family... My first thought was something is sketchy with the brotherThe brother, Michael Mc Stay had made some rather concerning comments. Between the disappearance and long before the bodies were found he said something to the effect of, "At this point I think we're looking for two adult shallow graves and my two nephews' crosses."
How would he know they'd be in TWO "adult"shallow graves? Why not one mass grave or four individual graves? And who references adult or child sized graves? The brother also removed items from his brother and sister-in-law's home while still stating they were missing/possibly kidnapped, that they wouldn't have left like that....so he was removing items from what he himself believed was a crime scene. He also claimed to not know the area where the bodies were found, but then supposedly was the one who clued the cops in to the Bobcat digging machine tracks and pointed out the quarry nearby, saying it wouldn't be odd to have heavy machinery in the area. He then further mentions a shooting range nearby (in this area he's never seen before) and says it wouldn't be odd to hear gun shots in the area either. There were also withdrawals from the family's $100,000 bank account after the disappearance and before it was frozen. Withdrawals made by the family mouthpiece, Michael McStay.
Too sketchy in my opinion.
- Chase Merritt, 56, has been accused of having a hand in the disappearance nearly four years ago of the McStay family
- Broke his silence with MailOnline after family's remains were found in a shallow grave in the desert last Friday
- Says he voluntarily took a lie detector test when family left their home in a hurry in 2010
- Husband Joseph McStay called his phone at 8.28pm that night but Merritt bitterly regrets not answering because he was watching a film
- Claims wife Summer McStay was insanely jealous with 'one hell of a temper' but can't believe she played a role
- Believes there's no way the McStays would have wanted to move to Mexico
- Says 'honest guy' Joseph would never have done deal with Mexican cartels
- Fully expects to be interviewed again by detectives after bodies were found
A public paddle-out memorial service is in the works for San Diego’s slain McStay family, according to a website managed by surviving family members.
On Nov. 11 – more than three-and-a-half years after mysteriously vanishing from their Fallbrook home – the skeletal remains of the McStay family were found in and around shallow graves in the high desert outside of Victorville, Calif.

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (CBS 8) -- It has been five weeks since the skeletal remains of Joseph and Summer McStay and their two young sons were found buried in the high desert near Victorville.
CBS News 8 investigated several people associated with the Fallbrook family that went missing in February 2010, and then was found murdered on November 11.
Michael James McFadden is the current husband of Joseph McStay's ex-wife, Heather; and the step-father of Joseph's McStay's now 17-year-old son by the first marriage.
A few months before the McStay family disappeared from their Fallbrook home on Feb. 4, 2010, Summer McStay filed a Child Protective Services complaint against McFadden, according to Joseph McStay's father, Patrick McStay.
Gianni and Chubba were as inseparable in life as they were in death when they were recovered in a shallow grave in the Mojave Desert on November 11.
Their parents, Joseph, 40 and Summer McStay, 43, were located in a separate grave nearby.
A 3rd gravesite was found-but empty. A protected source not authorized to speak to the media has confirmed that at least one of the parent’s remains was bound by an electrical cord.

McStay Family Murdered: Will Desert Graves Yield Their Killers?

The dad killed them all, then killed himself ..
I genuinely think the dad killed the family ..So so eery
What a tease. So if the lies continue I will publish all the phone conversations and the nasty texts Michael sent to his Aunt!
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) -- Joseph McStay, 40, his wife Summer McStay, 43, and their two sons, Gianni, 5, and Joey, Jr., 4, went missing from their Fallbrook home in February 2010.
It would be almost four years before the skeletal remains of the family were discovered in shallow graves near Victorville on November 11.
Within a week of the family's disappearance in 2010, large sums of money started being transferred out of Joseph McStay's business bank account.
Where was the money going? Who was transferring it and why?
CBS News 8 caught up with the employee who admitted to his involvement in some of those transactions.
At first, Dan Kavanaugh, 32, was reluctant to talk about his former employer, Joseph McStay, when a CBS News 8 camera crew came knocking at his apartment door in Little Italy.
"No news questions right now bud, sorry, can't do it," said Kavanaugh.
A web designer by trade, Kavanaugh had been in charge of developing the online presence for Earth Inspired Products, Joseph McStay's custom fountain design and manufacturing business.
Eventually, Kavanaugh opened up to CBS News 8, denying that he had anything to do with the family's disappearance or murder.
I remember seeing the E! Gay Hollywood Story on this..... I remember his family talking shit about Summer (wife) and how she was shady and secretive. Apparently her real name wasn't Summer, she had changed it years prior. I'm just curious why they bashed her and then haven't really said much about that angle again. I was curious why she changed her name...

A suspect has been arrested and charged with four counts of murder in the slaying of a California family who disappeared four years ago
[....]
Charles (Chase) Merritt, 57, a former business associate and friend of Joseph McStay, was arrested Wednesday and is being held without bail in San Bernardino County, Sheriff John McMahon said in a press conference. He declined to disclose a motive for the killings. He has been charged killing Joseph, his wife, Summer, and their two small sons, Gianni, 4, and Joseph Jr., 3.
He acted alone, McMahon said. Blunt-force trauma was the cause of death and the killings happened in the family's Fallbrook home

Merrit has at least two felony convictions and has served prison time, authorities said.
Michael McStay, Joseph's brother, choked back tears Friday as he thanked homicide investigators and Sheriff McMahon for sticking with the case and arresting a suspect. "They did a great job," he said. "You have no idea what this means,"

The McStays disappeared from their San Diego County home in 2010, under deeply mysterious circumstances.

Last year, a motorcyclist in San Bernardino County found two shallow graves near Interstate 15, about 100 miles from the family's Fallbrook home. The family's remains were identified through dental records.
The McStay's SUV was discovered in the California border town of San Ysidro, where it had been towed from the Mexican side. Surveillance footage appeared to show a family crossing the border, but authorities have determined the family was not the McStays, McMahon said Friday.
Holy shit!!! I thought an arrest in this case would never happen.... I wonder how they finally nailed him...Suspect arrested in the murders of California family who disappeared four years ago

I'm not buyin that it would have been possible for him to pull it off by himself. It would have tsaken more than one person tpo put the dad dead into a car he was big, the mom would have fought like a hell cat for her children well known and how the hell could he hav e driven their car down to border them up to nor cal area by himself??? still think the little pos tech guy and the other freak that actually had a place near where they were found were involved tooAnd after all his big talk about how much he loved McStay and how much he suffered financially after his death. His previous quote about hoping LE finds the assholes that did this. What a bunch of horseshit. Murdering fuck. So glad they finally were able to charge him.
