A seven-year-old girl is brain dead after she tried to play a prank on her mom and accidentally hanged herself.

Precise Tucker had tied one end of the bathrobe belt around her neck and the other on the handle of the refrigerator in the family's kitchen in Queens, New York.

Tucker was still tied at the neck and munching on potato chips when her mother, Purity Baldwin, temporarily left the room.

Police sources said Baldwin, 39, told Tucker to 'knock off the horseplay' and then walked out of the room with her 15-year-old brother, according to the New York Post.

Baldwin later told police that Tucker had a history of pulling pranks on the family that 'involved her being physically injured or appearing to be deceased'.

Tucker's brother came back into the room and found the little girl choking around 8.30pm on Wednesday.

They called 911 and removed the chips that had become stuck in Tucker's throat before starting CPR.

Neighbor Jose Rivera saw first responders put Tucker on a stretcher, 'pushing on her chest as they ran' into the ambulance.

Tucker was taken to the Long Island Jewish Cohen Children’s Medical Center, where she began to breathe on her own again after CPR was administered.

But by Thursday morning the little girl was on life support.

A specialist had been called in the night before and Tucker failed every test, Baldwin's sister told the newspaper.

She has since been declared brain-dead.

Police are investigating the incident. The family has no prior history with the Administration for Children's Services.

Yeah right ... I couldn't play pranks and eat chips at the same time when i was a kid. Either or needed my undivided attention.

Holy crap.

My parents would’ve spanked me with that belt the first time I “pretended” to be dead.

Sad situation all around.

I “pretended” to be dead.

You never did that ? I pretended to be dead and blind ... but not with a rope around my neck or anything even serious.
Does a seven year old know that you can die like that ... if she was prank-ing she would kind of have to know. I didn't know about that until I was ten or so.
I think the mom is lying ... about almost everything except the chips.

Too bad she died. She was a future demon member for sure.

Sigh.

I had the nasty thought from the headline that Miss Precise's injuries were inflicted by her mother. I don't quite know how to express my relief that there was no factual basis for that thought without coming across as an irremediable asshat.

Exactly what I was thinking, @Alf, that she scared her mother and then got backhanded and either fell off of something or onto something. Poor little girl, too much mischief on the wrong day.

Shades of Harold & Maude (my favorite film of all time).
