MASCOTTE — A man jailed in February for allegedly molesting, photographing and videotaping a baby girl was hit with additional charges Monday.
Richard Alton Morgan, who was already facing 300 total counts of child pornography and lewd or lascivious molestation, was charged with 20 additional counts of possession of child pornography after investigators finished analyzing an “electronic device” seized in the February arrest and discovered more graphic images.
Ten of the images show a woman sexually abusing her daughter, who appeared to investigators to be about 7 or 8 years old. The other 10 images show a different woman molesting a toddler between the ages of 1 and 2, detectives say.
Lake County sheriff’s deputies initially went to Morgan’s Mascotte home on Feb. 17 because they believed he was downloading child pornography. They were tipped off by undercover investigators for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
According to an arrest affidavit at the time, deputies found 20 images on Morgan’s laptop and phone of naked children simulating sex acts on themselves. They also noticed several videos of an infant being molested by him. That video showed the same couch and bedding that were in Morgan’s home. Morgan also is accused of sexual battery after he reportedly tried to have sex with the child, which also was caught on film.
Detectives believe Morgan molested four children in all.
Morgan reportedly admitted to police that he molested the infant as well as two other children.
