BRUNSWICK, Maine — Brunswick police on Tuesday charged a 33-year-old woman with driving under the influence while her 16-month-old son was a passenger in the car.

Jocelyn Houston of Lisbon Falls was charged with operating under the influence and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police went to Maine Street at 3:47 p.m. Tuesday for a report that a gold Buick Regal had run over a curb and come to a stop, Deputy Chief Marc Hagan said Thursday. When someone approached the driver, who appeared unconscious, she allegedly drove off.

When officers arrived on Maine Street, the vehicle was gone, but about 10 minutes later, they were called to a McDonald’s restaurant on Pleasant Street, where they approached a gold Buick Regal and found Houston with a 16-month-old child in the car.

The child was not wearing a coat or shoes, police said, prompting someone at McDonald’s to give officers a sweatshirt for the boy to wear. The Department of Health and Human Services was contacted and the child was released to grandparents, according to Hagan.
