We see it happen over and over, and we rain our curses down on on the dick, then reserve our particular contempt for the egg donor. We look for who to assign the blame, and there's always plenty to go around, including neighbors and extended family.

Maybe we aren't looking far enough. In a rush to put a face on our outrage we may be missing the bigger picture. The economy has no face.

She goes to work, he usually doesn't. Looks ridiculous on the face of it, but she's trying to provide instead of sitting on her ass. Have you seen the cost of child care? Ask yourself what she'd have left after paying, and how she could provide and get ahead. You can feed a man for a lot less, with the hope of having a real partner in life. Even if he does nothing, he's saving you about $100/wk.

This is a low-income tragedy. What financially stable guy with property is going to reach into the gutter to pull a readymade family out of poverty? This questionable opportunity only looks good to a guy that doesn't have jack shit to begin with. Seriously, three hots and a cot minus the bars, and there's pussy too! The only downside is the screaming kid.

In vast swathes of our nation, 40 hours of work can't support an individual, much less a family. This is creating tremendous stress at the low end of the economic scale, and the number of families and individuals living in poverty keep growing. More domestic violence, murder-suicide, family slayings, and the sweet oblivion of drugs and alcohol are the result of these pressures.

How do we turn this around?

I tried reaching in to the gutter and pulling a woman and her child out and up.
It failed.
Loved them both with all my heart but in the end she was self destructive.
She was happier catting around spreading for any and every male OR female who came within
banging distance.
At the end of the day I left her.
On the way out I suggested as I often have on here, that she get spayed and rehome her child since she did not seem to be willing to settle down.

Last I knew she was off the drugs, back on the booze, sterilized, surrendered her kid and hosting more penis than a Nevada brothel during convention season.
For me, just can't be bothered dating anymore at the moment.

Oh and not a deadbeat.
Retired with money, property and plenty of options at 53.
Life is still great!

My mom is this personality you speak off. I was lucky she married my Dad. Even though they divorced when I was 12. My dad never treated me differently from my sister and brother. Alcoholism is such a bitch.

Okay, but I think most of these moms are prostitutes ...

We bring the lords prayer back in the classroom (because it equalises people) or some other set of words with the same message and we start making our kids do their homework ...

Man, @McDanel ;

I wish I had the answer.

But you are right; societal fuckery is directly tied to economic fuckery and they feed off one another.

Upton Sinclair brilliantly wrote about it a century ago and we are headed right back to The Jungle, imho. Keeping the poor poor.
It simply is a continuation of slavery.
It keeps people indentured and existing from pay to pay.
The poor have been groomed to think middle class still exists...it does not.
The poor are waaaaay beyond poor and the middle class was quietly shifted to lower class.

Oh sure we think we have freedoms and choices but we do not.
We go to the grocery and Walmart like sheep...limited choices.
We self serve sure, but the money goes the same way each and every time.
It is insidious.

As a society we embrace normalizing life without a conventional, functional family unit with 2 loving involved parents.
I am not demonizing single parent families but let us be honest, being raised by 2 people is easier than by one.
Divorce and abandonment have become too easy.
It falls to adults to be teaching sustainable values of love and compassion to the next generations,
not just abandon them to the internet, video games, drugs or neglect.

We are becoming nothing more than a breeding slave labour force and all because it is easier.

^^^^This.

Mr. Knot and I actually had a convo this morning, using this very verbage; it is institutionalized slavery, for sure. Getting out of serfdom is a Sisyphean task at best.

Thank you, @McDanel , for this thread.

In my opinion? Minimum and maximum living wages to take care of income inequality, comprehensive sex ed, affordable and accessible birth control (or just real universal health care) as well as childcare classes and cheap or free supplies for expectant families; if you want to get really radical, universal basic income scaled to the cost of living

And of course things our government can't be held responsible for, like breaking down backwards societal thinking

But we can build a wall and Tweet retarded buffoonery incessantly.

*I hope he DIAF*

With this Congress the poor are going to be poorer. The bright side is that Congressmen will be the first against the wall when the revolution happens.

Ad comprehensive criminal justice reform to the mix. The U.S.A. has more people in jails and prisons than any country in the world. Prison and jail is big business. The revolving door is there for a reason....To make money. They have a vested interest in keeping people coming back. No one wants to hire a felon. Even if the felony is non violent. The jobs that felons can get treat them like shit, second or third class citizens. So most of them return to drugs and alcohol to feel better and crime to survive.Who goes to prison? ( besides violent shitheads and morons) Poor people. The whole system is rigged and it's getting worse by the day.

I've been thinking in terms of a maximum wage for some time. Recently, I read that in the '50's income over $400,000.00 had a tax rate of 92%. That's another possibility, say bump it to anything over a million? If you can't get by on a million, you aren't smart enough to have earned a million.

I'm getting to the point where I'd support a flat tax tbh. It can favor the wealthy but at least they'd be paying something... maybe... if we passed actual tax reform...

Jeff Bezos could spend something like $5Mil-$6Mil every day for the rest of his life and still die a billionaire. That isn't fair, especially given the way he runs his company

This is the downside is our brand of capitalism. Apparently, it doesn't work without that seedy underbelly. There needs to be a reason for LE to be present in such large numbers. Otherwise, the serfs might realize who they really protect. In addition, the unfortunate among us can be used as test subjects and cash cows for a number of industries. Those who are more solidly "middle class" pat themselves on the back and believe whatever happens to the less fortunate must be due to poor character and bad life choices. They never seem to realize how one's choices shrink with low income, but that attitude covers a host of problems actually caused by how our system functions. Neo-feudalism.

I do not believe change can be accomplished by politics or even revolution. It's going to have to come from the hearts of every human. Once we personally change fundamentally, everything around us changes in response. We're the mirror in which everything else is reflected. I see a great reluctance to even admit that we need to change on a personal level much less take any steps to do so. At the quantum level of this mess, that is the issue and that is why people still suffer everywhere in the world.

Good 'ol Ike warned us long ago what would happen if we continued to feed the Military Industrial Complex....they cut programs that help people in desperate need, and for what? More ICBM's? The War on Terror that will never end?
