From Marietta, Georgia:

Investigators in Marietta said they are leaning toward the possibility an 8-year-old boy committed suicide or accidentally killed himself.

Those investigators are hoping an autopsy being conducted Thursday will answer their questions about the death of D'enthonee Davis.

Davis' parents called 9-1-1 just before 10 p.m. Wednesday to report that they found their son unresponsive inside his bedroom at the Highland Court apartments on Allgood Road. Paramedics rushed Davis to Kennestone Hospital but he was later pronounced dead.

Marietta investigators said they are leaning toward an accidental hanging or suicide as a cause of the boy's death while they await the autopsy. They do not believe Davis died of natural causes.

Davis' parents said their son, who turned 8 in December, had been suspended from school Wednesday for throwing a crayon at a child in the first grade. The parents said they sent him to his room as a punishment. When they went to check on him, they found him passed out with a belt wrapped around his neck.

The boy's stepfather told 11Alive News that D'enthonee may have died as the result of a freak accident.

"He was here with this brother, with his uncles and other kids were here. He was up in his bedroom due to the punishment that my wife and I agreed upon. You know, accidents happened," said his stepfather, Mark Burns.

Investigators closed off the apartment and were treating it as a crime scene until they determine it is not one.

Hmmmmm. Sounds fishy. :^^:

Predictions?

I predict that someone took the punishment a little too far and made it look like an accident. Stepfather maybe.

We need a way to be able to bet on the outcomes of some of these unexplained events.

You know, accidents happen? Yeah, he did it. I promise you.

Wile step daddy-o does sound like a douchebag that migth have taken punishment too far and is now covering up..

Still, my money is the kid did offed himselve in an 'Itll show em' reaction, its not that uncomon...

but anyway...

They do not believe Davis died of natural causes.

It wouldn't be the first time a kid has hung himself. Also, it could have been a total accident. A "they'll see when I'm dead" type of response. My brother did something stupid like that with a belt once. He had no intention of killing himself, he was just pissed at my mother and was trying to scare her for restricting him.

Not a smart thing, of course, but it does not take much at all to strangle yourself, especially if there is pressure put on that nerve along the side of your neck.

When I was a teenager, I babysat a bad ass three year old named Jeremy. He was awesome. Rocker parents - his favorite song was "Bullets With Butterfly Wings" and he'd sing the chorus all the time, especially upon request.

Anyway, his parents were renting a house from my parents. The porch was raised a few feet off the ground. This kid wound a rope around his neck and jumped or fell off. No intention of killing himself. Luckily, the rope was just barely too long. We did get a wicked rope burn around his neck, though.

It was insane.

Wow that is crazy, 3 years old. I can't imagine my 3 yr old even contemplating that.

Seriously! I agree! "You know, accidents happen." What a weird fucking off-handed comment to make considering the horror of the event! I can imagine what those around him must have felt when the words came out of his mouth. He did it. Hopefully mom wasn't involved too.

I was curious, after you pulled this story back out by commenting on it, if anything had come up. I googled and cannot find anything except for the story that the boy was found with a belt around his neck. Seems fucking fishy. Anyone with good digging skills want to see if they can find out more? There was supposed to be an investigation into the incident. I would like to see what the investigation concluded.
